Malabsorption symptoms
A similar group of symptoms, especially diarrhea and bloating, also indicate a malabsorption problem, which occurs when the digestive tract is unable to properly utilize one or more components of the diet. Depending on the severity of the problem, the person may experience weight loss, muscle wasting, and show evidence of vitamin and mineral deficiencies. While some malabsorption problems are congenital, others may occur because of illness or its treatment. Problems may arise from the digestive tract itself, or from disorders of the heart and blood vessels, the endocrine glands, or the lymph system.
